Welcome, we hope you are enjoying your tour. This
page is just general info, me talking to you, stuff like
that. Please feel free to contact me if there is
something you'd like to see here.
We recently brought in a wonderful professional makeup
line, Jane Iredale Natural Mineral Cosmetics, the Skin
Care Makeup. This is a full line of cosmetics from
lips to eyes. But the thing we are most excited
about is the foundation. It's a loose mineral powder applied
with a brush, goes on smoothly, uses very little because
it's all pigment, no fillers or talc. Mary (our
nail technician and my daughter) had her first jar of
loose powder for 11 months before she finally had to buy
a new one!! So we can honestly say it lasts really
well. And it's GOOD for your skin!! No preservatives,
no additives, no dyes!! When you apply Jane Iredale Natural
Mineral Cosmetics you are applying only the pigment, nothing
more, so there will be nothing on your skin to cause pore
clogging, breakouts or senitive skin reaction!!! We have several clients now using Jane Iredale Cosmetics and I have to
say I have really noticed a difference in their skin condition…there is much less to "extract"
during their facials. This stuff is wonderful, stop
by and give it a try. For
those of you who wear acrylic nails, MMA is a type of
acrylic, usually used in discount salons. Methyl Methacrylate
Acrylic (MMA) is dangerous, it's illegal to use this product
in several states, unfortunately Illinois is not one of
them....but we're working on it. Reputable salons
and spas use a much more refined product called Ethyl
Methacrylate Acrylic. The more refined acrylic is
far more expensive...hence you probably won't find "good"
acrylic nails for twenty bucks. Discount salons that use carpenter's tools to drill your
natural nail and MMA to build your artificial nail offer
you a "cheap" acrylic but they are not doing
you any favors, this product can damage your natural nail
permanently!! MMA eats down through your nail and
grabs hold of your nail. If you do something that causes
you to "snap" your nail....opening car doors
is a notorious nail snapper ... you could pull your entire
fingernail right off. MMA nails rarely come off
by themselves ... that's because it's embedded in your
nail, if the MMA comes off -- your nail is going
to come off!! This product is the same stuff that
they use to glue linoleum to the underflooring...do you
really want that on your fingernails? For more information about MMA see
http://www.beautytech.info/articles/nmc7-01.htm. Even if you don't patronize our spa....please, please, please
go to a place that uses a reputable product. This
is your health we're talking about here, we don't want
you to lose your natural nails even if you aren't our
client. What's New?
A word about MMA ... and what's that you say?
I have recently started consulting with a nail salon cum spa in Minier, Illinois, Nina's Nails and More. The owner, Nina Riegler, has been doing nails for about 30 years (she admits this publicly, can you imagine?). Nina recently added a new room to her salon, which she calls "the spa area", where I will be doing facials and other body services for her (until she can find a permanent employee). Nina's clients are excited and really looking forward to the new services, as am I. So, if you live closer to Bloomington than to Fairbury, please give Nina a call and we can do your service there (309-392-2938). We'll have all the same products available so you won't miss out on anything. Come by, say hello, you'll love this place. Visit Nina's website http://www.ninasnails.net for a little preview.
